Lost: Season Four Finale Recap

The season finale starts with a flash forward of The Oceanic 6 arriving home to meet their families. The 6 include baby Aaron, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, and Hurley. They agree that they need to lie about what happened on the island.

Oceanic... Five
The mercenaries prepare to come to the island and get Ben, killing anyone that gets into their way. Kate and Jack find Sawyer on his way back to the beach with Aaron. He explains that Claire disappeared in the middle of the night – we know that she left with her, and Jack’s, dead father.
In a flash forward the Oceanic 6 attend a press conference where Jack lies and states that only three other people survived the crash, but died on the island: Boone, Libby, and Charlie. Sayid reunites with Nadia, his love that he was tasked with torturing in Iraq.

"What was it like crashing?" "Um... what do you think it was like?"
In a flash forward we learn that Sun bought a controlling interest in her father’s company with her Oceanic 6 settlement money. Take that, bastard! I’m thinking her new position and power may play a key role in the survivors returning to the island.
Locke, Hurley, and Ben head to The Orchid where Ben plans to move the island in order to keep Charles Widmore’s men from finding him and obtaining the island. Sawyer and Jack find the helicopter pilot that the mercenaries left handcuffed to the copter. He tells them that the mercenaries will kill anyone with Ben. Sawyer tells Jack that means Hurley too.
In a flash forward Jack’s father finally has a memorial service. At the end of it, Claire’s mother informs Jack that she was his sister, therefore; Jack realizes that Aaron is his nephew.
On the freighter, Sun finds out that Michael has returned and has been trying to make up for what he did to Libby and Ana-Lucia. Ben turns himself over to the mercenaries while Richard, and the other Others, offer to help Kate and Sayid.
Hour 2…
In a flash forward Kate berates Jack for suggesting the return to the island. Jack is all scruffy and drunk.

"If I agree to go back, will you shave?"
Richard and the other Others take out most of the mercenaries and rescues Ben who returns to The Orchid in order to move the island with Locke. The survivors continue to take the smaller boat to the island in groups of six while on the freighter, Michael, Desmond and Jin worry about disarming the explosives aboard the ship.
In a flash forward, Walt visits Hurley in the asylum and tells him he had a visit from Jeremy Bentham, the man in the obituary at the end of season 3.
Sawyer, Hurley, Jack, Sayid, and Kate make off in the ‘copter with the pilot. They’re headed for the freighter. Back at The Orchid, the head mercenary Keamer, comes after Ben. Ben attacks Keamer whose heart rate is synched to the detonator.
The helicopter springs a gas leak and it’s carrying too much weight. Sawyer whispers to Kate, and then jumps into the ocean.
In a flash forward Sayid convinces Hurley to leave the asylum after telling him Jeremy Bentham is dead. He supposedly committed suicide. Sayid instructs Hurley not to speak J.B’s real name.
Keamer dies warning Ben that wherever he goes, Charles Widmore will follow. The detonation begins as Desmond tries to get everyone off the freighter, the helicopter arrives. They scramble to seal the leak and pump more gas before leaving again, this time with Desmond. Jin doesn’t make it in time and after Jack’s dead father, Christian, tells Michael he can go now, the freighter explodes.
Locke returns to The Others to be their new leader as Ben prepares to move the island, knowing the consequences are that he cannot return. Ben moves the island, with Sawyer and Juliet on it, and some other survivors in the lifeboat nearby. The copter crashes, but everyone aboard survives and floats away on a life raft.
In a flash forward, Kate dreams that Claire returns to tell her not to take baby Aaron back to the island.
When rescue comes, Jack tells them they have to lie about what happened to them. Moments later they are found by Penny’s, Desmond’s love, boat. The survivors go to another island where they will claim they lived for 103 days until a typhoon blew a life raft ashore which they used to sail to Sumba, where they were rescued. They tell this lie to protect the others left on the island.

Hurley FINALLY decided to get his ass out of the raft so it could be pulled ashore.
Jack goes to the funeral parlor from the end of season three and we learn, from Ben, that they all need to return to the island. The dead man, Jeremy Bentham, is revealed to be Locke.

I hope they get him back before he starts to smell.
And now, a sneak peek at season five…
