Reading the comments on this blog, all I can say is that I am so glad I don’t live in America. I have breastfed each of my 3 kids in public, in a variety of places, and only ever tried to cover my eldest’s head when he was really tiny. After that I discovered that if you know how to latch it can be done completely discreetly with a normal shirt on. Sure, I might show a little of my side, but that’s hardly flashing boob. From what I have noticed, breastfeeding in public is really important for long-term breastfeeding success. All the moms I have met who have tried to cover up, or go out of the room when breastfeeding, have either got over their shyness and gone on to breastfeed successfully, or they have struggled, started feeding formula when out, had supply issues because of this, and stopped breastfeeding prematurely.
