In the fall of 2005 I found my life full of changes. I’d recently been laid off from a good paying job, and fed up with working in fields that left me uninspired, I decided to go to college and major in Journalism/Professional Writing. At the age of 31. As I waited for the spring ’06 semester to begin I suddenly had lots of free time on my hands.

I began to blog – online journal – any and everything that popped into my head. My readers consisted of a few family members and friends. Anytime I would inform my best friend, Sophie, of something interesting that had happened to me she would respond, “Blog it out, bitch!” So, I did. And that is how my blog was formed. Within a few months I had a few hundred subscribers, and now, three years later I have several thousands. Bloggers fancy themselves important enough that their views and opinions should be shared with anyone willing to listen (read.) Some consider themselves writers. This blogging stuff was right up my alley!

By the end of 2008, with graduation on the horizon, I decided to knuckle down and get serious. I moved my blogs from Myspace to this site so that I could have more control and remain focused on the kind of writing I would be proud to show prospective employers or literary agents. Below, you will find a summary of what you can expect from the many categories of blogs here at BIOB.

Blog It Out, Bitch: The Blogs – These are the original blogs as they appeared on Myspace with their original post dates. They span from 2005 to the end of 2008. These blogs cover all aspects of my balancing act as a wife, mother, student, and homemaker. Beginning in January of ’09 each posting will be new content.

Blog It Out, Baby – These are the blogs that chronicle my pregnancy with my second child, Jack. They span December 2007 to August 2008.

Mommy Mondays – All things motherhood. These blogs talk about everything from the annoying children in the neighborhood to helping your child deal with bullies on the school bus. Beginning in January of ’09, every Monday a new mommy blog will be posted. You’ll be there as I get used to being a Mom to a newborn and a daughter entering those pre-teen years.

NiVo: TV/Movie Reviews & Book Reviews – I’m a pop culture vulture who couldn’t live without her three TiVos. NiVo blogs (Nina + TiVo get it?) are my unique take on all things pop culture from Twilight to Harry Potter, from Superman to the latest Will Smith movie. Each week I’ll be posting reviews and recaps of some of your (and my) favorite shows like 24, Lost, and Battlestar Galactica.

Fiction – Each week I’ll be posting a piece of original fiction starting with “Sharing Space” (tentative title), a modern interracial romance set in New York City. Every Friday I’ll post a new chapter from SS and hopefully, you’ll fall in love with the story of Patrick and Chloe as I have. Then, stay tuned for more original stories written by yours truly including the police procedural/murder mystery, “The Seven Five.”

Too Cute To Be This Fat – Journey with me as I try to lose this dreadful baby weight. I’ll blog my struggles and accomplishments and share any weight loss/fitness tips I come across. You’re welcome to do the same.

Rants – Occasionally, I feel the need to let loose on someone or something. My sounding board es tu sounding board so feel free to blow off some steam here as well.
