BIOBaby: Jack Updates

It’s been awhile. I’ve been busy with school and trying to get published. Thanks for your patience.

Jack is almost 14 months now. His vocabulary continues to grow. Donny has been upgraded from “Dada” to “Daddy.” It’s absolutely adorable and somewhat annoying. Annoying because I just realized a few days ago that he now says Mama when referring to me and when requesting food. My mom will be pouring a bowl of Cherrios for him and he’ll start chanting from his high chair, “Mama mama!” Kali will be pouring a cup of juice for him and he’ll be standing at her side, pointing at the cup, and screaming, “Mama mama!”

“This is because, to him, you are food.” Donny explained. “It’s kind of cute.”

“No. It’s insulting. A bit of my soul dies when my son affectionately calls a french fry, ‘Mama!’”

Donny has taught him how to say, “Belly.” He will rub his own, and sometimes one of our bellies, and say belly over and over again. Not to be outdone, I’m trying to teach him how to say, “esophagus.”

He’s a smart cookie and tries desperately to keep up with Kali and my lil sister, Bruklyn. The girls were outside the other day and Jack stood at the second floor gallery window watching them play. Suddenly, he began running a few feet to the wall, slapping it, and then running back to the window. I was standing nearby, on the phone with my Dad, silently wondering what the hell he was doing. Then, I looked out the window and saw that the girls were racing to the neighbor’s mailbox, tagging it with their hands, and then running back to the other neighbor’s driveway. Jack wanted to race too!

Fresh from the bathtub.

Fresh from the bathtub.

Yes, I’m still nursing him. He is not really feeling the cow’s milk, but will drink baby juice and water. He eats cereal, baby cereal, Gerber graduates meals, steamed veggies, and random things from our plates. He still likes to nurse at night before bed. I’m not worried about it because I told myself when I was pregnant that I’d try to nurse for the first 18 months.

He’s still sleeping with us as well. Some people seem to think that we are setting ourselves up for trouble later, but this isn’t our first rodeo. Kali was still sleeping with us at this age too. It’s even more convenient because he is still nursing. I’m not overly concerned with a rough transition to his own room because we have experience with it and did just fine.

Finally, Jack loves to dance.

I weaned Natalie at 14 months, and I wish I hadn't. :( And she's almost 3 and still sleeps in the bed with me. I do not enjoy the criticism. "She'll still be sleeping with you at 16!" Good! Then she won't be able to sneak out!

Ha! Good point. I like the way you think.

Ryan loves to dance too!! Although, I must say, I love the chicken dance style he was doing in Kali's room. How is Kali's relationship to Jack? Ryan just adores his 9 yr old sister Faith. He lights up when she comes home from school and cries when she leaves. It's really cute. His vocab is a bit limited though, Hi Bye Mommy Da-da. That's about it.

Oh, question for any readers: I have to take Ryan (same age as Jack) to a specialist on Monday for his legs. He's really bow-legged. I'm nervous. Anyone have any experience with this?

I can't believe how big he is! And SO cute!

Yep, that's your boy. Playing on facebook, getting into video games in Kali's room...

Jack is adorable, I wouldn't worry about the sleeping arrangements. You know what's best for your son and how he will adapt. His dancing reminds me of my two year old son.

With the recent passing of MJ his father has been playing his music and purchased a DVD of one of his concerts. My son now watches this DVD atleast 3 times a day. He also knows the dance moves and every song that comes on. Last night as I prepared dinner he took the liberty of climbing on top the dinner table to perform and dance. We've decided to dress him up as Michael Jackson for Halloween. I think it will be hilarious. He has even given his first concert at the daycare.

OMG I love that fast dance walk he did. Super cute. I watched that part like 20 times.

He's sooo cute :)

Not to be outdone, I’m trying to teach him how to say, “esophagus.”
hahahahahaha

He got the moves!

I see hes on Facebook as well..LOL!

For Mafia Wars, yes. Shhhhh!

and you didn't friend request me? i'm crushed ;)

I had a very witty response yesterday, but I kept getting errors on the site. So now it just amounts to - funny, me too, cute.

he has the cutest walk and the cutest chubby belly ever!

I have to catch him walking into a room. He kinda pushes the door open all hard and enters belly first like someone very important with lots of important things to do.

HA, is Jack dropping it like its hot? too funny all babies do the same dance. I really like when they tap their feet and hold the one arm out for balance.

Jack got that boom boom pow and he got that wing dance down!

You make some pretty damn adorable babies :)

I know, right?! I mean, thank you. :-)

Wondering if I'm the only one that skips right to the pictures and videos and then goes back to read?

Logan and Gavin likes this song by BEP. Tell Jack he's too young to know to stick his tongue out when he feeling the music. lol

I know what you mean, as far as the momma thing. Logan called me daddy for a good while and Michael.

FYI...Logan will be 3 in December and is still in my bed. I honestly don't mind. I love it because we snuggle every night. She gets right up under me and lays her face on my chest and we fall asleep.

We didn't have a hard time getting Kali to transition so I'm not worried about Jack. Also, it seems he does a lot of things earlier and easier than most babies simply because he is constantly trying to keep up with Kali. I can see him wanting to sleep in his own room like Kali does.

Oh, and the tongue thing had me cracking up! He grown, girl. He grown.

ur son IS awesome. so adorable!

Dancing Babies are just about the funniest and most adorable thing EVER!!! ANNND..even at 14 months he has more rhythm than most white boys...

and his smile is toooooo precious, really!!

Yes, he has the chicken dance down cold. And that smile has already gotten him out of lots of trouble.
