TCTBTF: Week 13

Thanks to Emily, I’ve taken the SocialWorkout.com April Workout Challenge. I don’t know if that’s the official title, but it pretty much works like this:
Get off your lazy booty and work out for 26 days in April. I’ve been keeping a workout journal at the site which I’ll also share here. It’s been fun reading everyone else’s entries for the past three days. If you sign up, let me know your name over there.
Here’s my entry from last night, April 2nd:
Sore. In That Good Way.
I prefer to work out in the morning, but when you’re up throughout the night with a newborn, you sleep in if he lets you. Today I had so much running around to do, and I was bummed to realized that I wouldn’t have time to workout until after class (9pm.)
Working out in the morning means that I’ll make better food choices during the day. Where some may think that working out early allows them to “cheat” or “treat themselves” to temptation foods, I look at it as wasting hard work already put in.
On the flip side, if I know I’m gonna work out later in the evening, I may be tempted to eat poorly during the day, pledging to “work it off” later. Rarely happens!
Thankfully, I was good today. My only splurge was a caramel macchiatto – needed to keep me up in class this evening. When I got home, I did 30 minutes of aerobics, 25 minutes on the elliptical, and 100 crunches.
I’m now sore. In that good way.
G’nite
This morning I weighed myself and I’m down 3lbs! That brings my 13 week total to -7. I’m kicking myself for slacking off for four weeks. Can you imagine how much weight I’d have lost by now if I hadn’t fallen off the wagon? Also, down three pounds this week and I only worked out 3 days, had Starbucks three times, AND McDonald’s. Yeah, I will be on fire when I TOTALLY behave.
Last night my Mom packed a bag for me to take to class. A large Rubbermaid container with a salad; lettuce, cucumbers, and shredded carrots which adds a sweetness, I think, bottled water, and a plum.
When I got home, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to work out when Donny and my Mom told me that Jack pretty much cried the whole time I was gone. He’d had immunization shots earlier in the day so he was super cranky and I think his legs were stiff and sore from where he’d received the shots. Poor baby.
Surprisingly, he fell alseep easily (with his face pressed against mine, oddly enough) and after Donny took him up to bed, I was able to get the workout in mentioned above.
This morning I did about 20 minutes of step aerobics and some light boxing. I had to stop because Jack decided he didn’t want to watch anymore, and would rather participate. And by participate I mean, “sit on my feet.”
I’ll get on the elliptical this afternoon and do some yoga for about an hour. Then it’s 100 crunches before bed.
Next week, my TCTBTF blog will be dedicated to my favorite meal; breakfast!
How was your week?
3 down, 23 to go, Emily!
This is the pic at SocialWorkout.com that motivates the hell outta me!

My gym has been running a challenge for the past 5 weeks - the final winner can win AUD$10,000. I find competition EXTREMELY motivating, and so far I've lost 4kgs (I think it converts to around 9.6lbs) and 35cms from my body. I go to the gym every day for at least an hour, run in the mornings and try to be good about everything I put in my mouth. Honestly, I feel like a new woman - I'm actually sleeping well, my clothes are fitting better and the boredom eating I used to indulge in is replaced by working out.
By the time my daughter's debutante ball comes around in June, I will SO be the hottest mum there! Goals - they're what are important!!!

LikeI am so inspired...I have been keeping up on my cardio and have done 2 wimpy weight workouts this week which is good, it is a start, but I really want to get some yoga in as well.
Dan brought home this workout supplement which kicked me into high gear, I love it. Now I just have to get my diet back on track with the vegetables. This last week has been all about my version of stress eating and I have felt the consequences - low energy, a cold, etc.
I am going to put together a 'daily chart' today and pin it up on the refrigerator and get back into marking off my 'to-dos'.

LikeAccording to the Biggest Loser, you're supposed to eat breakfast, because it will prevent you from eating so much later in the day... I still have a hard time with getting in the habit, though....
Also, according to the Biggest Loser, you're supposed to have snacks prepared with you, so you're not tempted to grab things that are less than healthy...
Just a few tips I saw this week... hopefully they help someone... ;o)

Like=( I am still not bike riding due to my injury I mentioned in your last blog. The hole in my leg is healing very nicely and now is pretty much a deep dimple, but my thigh muscle is still sore when I bend it at acute angles. I am going to do a little test drive next week and ride my bike in the driveway just to see how it feels. I can't wait to start physical activity again because until then I just feel like a bump on a log. a FAT bump on a log.

LikeI JUST order that Flirty Fitness workout DVD on Tuesday!
It's the preview pack with 3 DVD's and one is for chair dancing. The one that comes with the stripper pole was just too expensive. I figured I would work my way to that anyway. I'm kidding myself if I think I can hole myself up on a shiny piece of metal.
I've been pretty good this week, I've been eating everything tuna. Of coursee, I put mayo on it....baby steps :)

LikeWell congrats! I was wondering about the weighing in thing. I threw out my scale simply because at some point or another it told me I had GAINED when I knew for a fact I was fitting better in my clothes. Building muscle (which is very important) will do that.
Do you just use the scale or do you measure yourself or use some other method of monitoring as well? Just curious.

LikePeople keep telling me to measure, but I can't be bothered. I probably should, but eh. I go by the jeans method. When I can fit in my pre-pregnancy jeans, I'll be happy as hell. I have noticed that the scale that comes with the Wii Fit has me four pounds lighter than the scale in my bathroom.

LikeI noticed a discrepancy also but I found its dependent on how much clothes you tell it youre wearing. Its usually more accurate for me when I put that my clothes are light rather than heavy

LikeCongrats on the success! Today I tried Pilates and am really feeling good. I swear I can feel my blood circulating from head to toe after all that stretching. Can't wait for the next blog because breakfast is always a challenge for me.

LikeI want to try Pilates. I'm a mess with some of the yoga poses, but I don't give up. I figure the more I do it, the sooner I'll be able to do it without looking like a fool.

LikeI'm still -5 down, but am on my 4th day sans cigarettes, so we will see how long that lasts!!!
I do believe, though, now that I'm able to start 1) walking outside again and 2) clearing my property again, I SHOULD see at least SOME of this weight come off soon!!!

Neens, I'm so proud of you! But I am jealous for you already having done your workout today. Motivation...

LikeTralfaz, if I start doing stripaerobics, I will carry a damn pole with me everywhere I go. I'll be like Wild E. Coyote with his Acme bag o' tricks.
Em, I'm not usually so lucky. Since I'm usually up till 2am doing schoolwork, I end up sleeping till 10am (waking up here and there to pop a boob in Jack's mouth.) He woke up at 8:30am today (still achy/cranky from shots), and I was still pumped from last night's workout right before bed. Also, I want to have my evening free to hang out with Donny so getting it in early was best. I didn't do as much as I wanted cause Jack, literally, got under foot. I'll hop on the elliptical during his afternoon nap.

LikeNina, Give Jack a dose of Tylenol about 30 minutes before he gets his shots. This helps with the soreness/crankiness. I did that with both of my boys when they were babies and they didn't feel as bad afterwards.
