Double Digits

Kali is officially in the double digits. She turned ten yesterday. Does this make her a preteen? Ugh. Perish the thought.
Friday night Donny and I went out and bought her presents. We decided on Mario Kart w/ the Wii Wheel, a Sims game for the Wii, Bolt on DVD, and lots of clothes. My mother-in-law sent her a Kohl’s gift certificate and my Grandma sent her cash. Kohl’s had a great clearance sale so we made out really well there. She also got a Disney Channel Scene-It from Kohl’s (normally $45, on sale for $16!)
Saturday we had a party with family here at the house. Pics below. Then yesterday, we went to my parents house for an Easter Egg hunt.
Saturday – My stepmother made the birthday cakes for both Kali (4/12) and my sister, Bruklyn (4/15) They’ve been playing lots of Rock Band and Guitar Hero so Kali wanted a guitar cake and Bruklyn wanted drums.
I have more pics, but Donny went to work with my laptop bag in the car and my digital camera is inside of it. Boo.
More pics when Donny gets home from work.
So, how was our Easter weekend?

Nina is a 34-year-old mother, wife and writer who spends her days blogging, studying, changing diapers and watching ridiculous amounts of TV. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband, two children and three TiVos.

I swear Kali gets prettier and prettier. I think the official term is Tween and I think she has to be at least 11 before she hits that category.
My Little Bit was an angle in the churches Easter play. She was SUPPOSED to get up and say her name and that she was an angle....that didn't happen. She refused to speak.

LikeWow! Jack is so tall! And Happy Birthday to you, miss Kali! She's a very beautiful young lady. :)
My Easter was great! I saw my oldest brother for the first time in four years, and finally introduced my hunny to my dad. I thought my dad would kill him or ask him two-thousand uncomfortable questions, but they hit it off really well! I'm still in shock, since nobody has ever been good enough for Daddy's little girl. *rolls eyes* :-P

LikeI was a rebel pre teen and teen for sure. But I lucked out with my boys. I was at my best mothering when they were teens. I wanted to be the mom I'd wished my mom was. She was an iron hand type mom and I could never do anything right. I dated one boy then I should be dating around. If I dated around, I was a slut. Heh. You get the idea. I was laid back and easy going with the boys. I was and am a 'night' person, so I was always up when they came in. It's easy to be a detective if you see the condition they are in when they walk in the house.
Kali will be easy because she has you for a mom, and you are an excellent mom.
Happy Birthday to Kali!

LikeMy dad claims that I was only miserable for about two years as a teenager - from about 13 to 15.
So I am trying to keep that in mind, it is just like an extended toddler phase only the dangers look different and they can argue back...
Wait. That isn't reassuring.
I think Kali is going to be one of those amazing teens. A lot has to do with the mother-daughter relationship and you two seem to be on track in a great way.

LikeHappy birthday to Kali! She's beautiful!
We had 20 adults and about 15 kids at MY house for Easter. I freaked out from about Wednesday until everyone arrived on Sunday and it turned out to be a really good time.

LikeNina! How does she make cakes like that? I love them!!!
These are two totally random comments. (Just warning you)
1) Where else can you get that ice cream you talk about? I found it at safeway but they never have all the yummy flavors. Just the same three. I've been wanting the key lime pie one!
2) I tried to put your site into my, "5 sites I visit daily," on facebook thing and it didn't come up automatically. Boo. I tried!

LikeKali is soo beautiful.
The cakes came out fab.
I wasn't with any kids this year so I didn't get to experience any fun Easter stuff like Easter Egg Hunt's and delicious candy (thank God for that one). It was me and my boyfriends first Easter so we had a BBQ....lol.
Hmmmm Bubba burgers on Easter.

LikeHappy Birthday to Kali, and Congrats on finding great gifts for her.
Preteens and double digits I remember those years. I looked forward to them because thats when I was allowed to finally paint my fingernails with color. Before that it was clear or none at all. Also, I got my first perm for christmas when I turned 10.
Those cakes are cool! I watch food network alot and want to learn how to make them (I've never tried). We don't even have cool cake places here that make figure cakes, let alone do I know a person talented enough to make one.
Easter was fun though it was cold. No sunshine here in central america. We went to dinner and did an egg hunt in the park. The kids loved it.

LikeCan I just say again how much I love that color blue you have in the family/living room?
I'm the only practicing Catholic in the family, so I went to Mass by myself in the am, then the rest of the day was spent relaxing, eating, and hanging out with family. Pretty much perfect :)

LikeAw, Kali being 10 must make you feel so proud (and perhaps a little bit freaked that you're baby's growing up!)
I know when I jokingly say to my mum "Mum, I'm ooooooooooold!" she says "I was 19 when I had you, so how old do you think I feel?!"
This Easter was a lazy one. Only left the house 2 days out of the 4 my fella has been off work, one of which was today. We had a lovely walk and the sun shone- which is a real rarity on a UK Bank Holiday, I can tell you! Love the guitar cake!
